Gillian and Murray chose a beautiful and crisp winter day for their engagement shoot, just a few weeks before their beautiful wedding at the Macdonald Houston House. We met on frosty and sunny day at their home on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Gillian and Murray had asked me to take their engagement photos at Threipmuir Reservoir, as they go there often for runs or cycling. Winter seemed to have returned to Scotland, and the reservoir was frozen over. The ground was also frozen solid and the trees and plants were covered in ice crystals.
Winter Engagement Shoot
This was Gillian’s and Murray’s first time in front of the camera, so they were understandably a little nervous. Soon however they seemed to have forgotten about the camera, and we ended up on a lovely walk around the reservoir. Gillian and Murray told me how it hadn’t been long that they had returned from living in Australia. They had just recently moved into their new home to be closer to their families and also to take up new professional challenges.
We ended up talking about their wedding plans, and how they had invited many of their friends from Autralia to the wedding. They also told me how they hate being the centre of attention, and that their wedding was going to be all about their friends and family and just having a huge party together. At the end of our session I was really glad that I had a much better understanding of what was important to Gillian and Murray. So overall it was a really good opportunity for us to get to know each other a bit better, and at the same time we managed to take some really nice images of this very cute couple on this really beautiful but cold winter engagement shoot!
