Brides With Pride  - Sara's and Niamh's Wedding in Cork, Ireland

Sara and Niamh, two brides with pride! Sara's and Niamh's wedding in Cork was a fun-filled day in June. It was a celebration of equal rights in a country that is typically steeped in traditions. Both Sara and Niamh had 'Bride With Pride' T-shirts made for the occasion and they did wear them with pride indeed!

Niamh and Sara had met through their studies at Cork University, where they both completed their medical degrees. For their big day they had booked the dramatic looking Blackrock Castle Observatory as a venue for the actual wedding ceremony.

Many guests had flown in from overseas. Sara and Niamh therefore decided to book the Rochestown Hotel for the evening reception. This meant that most guests could just stumble to their rooms after the party!

A Beautiful Edinburgh City Chambers Wedding 2

A Beautiful Edinburgh City Chambers Wedding

The Lovely Edinburgh City Chambers Wedding of Fiona and Peter

For Fiona and Peter knew fairly early that they wanted to have their wedding at Edinburgh City Chambers. Fiona and Peter live in London with their daughter Agnes. Peter works for the London School of Economics and Fiona is a professional dancer. Fiona grew up in Scotland, and with her family still here, the choice of a venue for their wedding was easy.

When I first spoke to Fiona and Peter, they were very clear that they didn't want to turn their wedding into a big affair. They wanted the day to be a celebration of their commitment to each other and as a family unit. Their little daughter was going to be their flower girl. They also wanted to make sure that their wedding was going to be a celebration with their close friends and family.

This was my first Edinburgh City Chambers wedding since they had moved their weddings across the road to the other side of the Royal Mile. What a great venue it is! From the European Room where the ceremony took place to the actual reception room with its fabulous views across the New Town!

Fiona and Peter had also put a lot of thought into the table decorations. With their understated elegance the details really complemented the elegant setting of the City Chambers with its oak panelled walls.

An Elegant Spring Wedding

An Elegant Spring Wedding

When April came around this year it was time for Gillian's and Murrays super elegant spring wedding. From the outset Gillian and Murray were very clear that the main focus of the day was going to be the party with their friends and family. Many of their friends were going to travel from as far as Australia to be with them on their special day. So it was really important to Gillian and Murray that the photographer would take lots of candids on the day.

Gillian and Murray had chosen the Macdonald Houston House as the venue for their wedding. This venue perfectly suited the elegant and understated theme of their wedding. The room for the actual wedding service looked fantastic. Staff at the venue were extremely professional when turning the room around for the evening reception. With the candelabras on the tables and the beautiful table decorations the evening reception room looked fabulous.

Most importantly however the day turned out to be the fun wedding party that Gillian and Murray had hoped for. Their Australian guests loved the fact that the men in true Scottish tradition all wore kilts. Nobody was even in the slightest bit bothered by the Scottish weather. Everybody just shrugged off the rain which started during the group shots. I think the many photos of laughing and happy people are a testament to the atmosphere on the day.

When I had finished the edits for this wedding, I was really pleased with the images. Whimsical Wonderland Weddings  must have felt the same, as they kindly agreed to feature this wedding in August this year. So rather than including a gallery on this blogpost, I decided to just post the link to the lovely Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog.

In the blog post you will find more images from the day. It also gives you the key suppliers for this wedding. Please click the image below.

Emma & Mark 3

Emma & Mark

Emma's and Mark's country wedding

From the very beginning when Emma and Mark first contacted me, they made it clear to me just how important their animals and living in the countryside were for them. Mark works as a vet, and Emma runs her own equestrian centre near Biggar. So I wasn't surprised at all, when I found out that they had chosen the cosy Tinto House Hotel as their wedding venue.

The hotel has a homely atmosphere and the friendly staff made everybody feel very welcome. Emma and Mark also made sure that their animals played a crucial role during the day. One of their dogs was the ringbearer, and all the decorations from the table cards to the handcrafted cake stand had an equestrian theme.

All of this created the perfect setting for a country wedding with some happy tears but mainly lots of laughter!
