Pre-Wedding Shoot in Glencoe

Gorgeous Pre-Wedding Shoot in Glencoe

When Teegan and Adrian first contacted me, we hadn't planned a pre-wedding shoot in Glencoe. Teegan and Adrian live in Western Australia where they run Skybox Studio. Adrian had recently proposed to Teegan, and they had decided to get married at Ross Priory on the shores of Loch Lomond. When I realised that they would be staying in the area for a few days, I suggested a drive to Glencoe to take a few photos before their wedding day.

Teegan and Adrian loved the idea, and so we jumped into the car on a rainy August morning and set off for Glencoe. Our first stop was at Firkin Point on the shores of Loch Lomond. This is one of my favourite spots at Loch Lomond with some fantastic views towards the northern end of the loch.

After Loch Lomond we headed further north. Our drive took us through Crianlarich and Tyndrum. Once we reached the dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor it had started to rain. Teegan and Adrian were completely unfazed by this. Teegan with her long maroon coloured dress blowing in the wind looked like straight out of a scene from Outlander!

I had so much fun with Teegan and Adrian exploring the amazing Scottish wilderness, and we ended this laughter-filled day with a drink at the Drovers Inn. If you would like to go on a similar adventure, why don't you drop me a line here!

Engagement Shoot With Dog 1

Engagement Shoot With Dog

A Lovely Engagement Shoot with Dog

Jess and Iain really wanted to involve their dog Buddy in their engagement shoot. You can imagine my disappointment when I met them at Pollok House and there was no sign of Buddy! Poor Buddy would have been just a bit too excitable for a photoshoot in the park! Funnily enough a completely random dog photo-bombed us later on. This made for one of my favourite images from this lovely little engagement session, and a dog did actually feature in the engagement shoot!

Iain and Jess had chosen Pollok Park as a location for this shoot because they both live in the Southside of Glasgow. Apart from the location there wasn't much of a 'brief' for this session. Jess had found me on social media, and she felt that my style of photography really was what she wanted for her wedding. Both Iain and Jess were looking for a more contemporary and alternative approach to their photos, which is why they loved my idea of including some multiple exposures!

Jess and Iain have since been married at 23 Montrose Street in Glasgow. I'll be featuring their wedding photos in a later blog post. And just a short while ago Jess sent me an email telling me about the birth of their little baby daughter! It's so lovely when couples stay in touch after their weddings and I get to hear about new and exciting chapters in their lives!

Winter Engagement Shoot 2

Winter Engagement Shoot

Gillian and Murray chose a beautiful and crisp winter day for their engagement shoot, just a few weeks before their beautiful wedding at the Macdonald Houston House. We met on frosty and sunny day at their home on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Gillian and Murray had asked me to take their engagement photos at Threipmuir Reservoir, as they go there often for runs or cycling. Winter seemed to have returned to Scotland, and the reservoir was frozen over. The ground was also frozen solid and the trees and plants were covered in ice crystals.

Winter Engagement Shoot

This was Gillian's and Murray's first time in front of the camera, so they were understandably a little nervous. Soon however they seemed to have forgotten about the camera, and we ended up on a lovely walk around the reservoir. Gillian and Murray told me how it hadn't been long that they had returned from living in Australia. They had just recently moved into their new home to be closer to their families and also to take up new professional challenges.

We ended up talking about their wedding plans, and how they had invited many of their friends from Autralia to the wedding. They also told me how they hate being the centre of attention, and that their wedding was going to be all about their friends and family and just having a huge party together. At the end of our session I was really glad that I had a much better understanding of what was important to Gillian and Murray. So overall it was a really good opportunity for us to get to know each other a bit better, and at the same time we managed to take some really nice images of this very cute couple on this really beautiful but cold winter engagement shoot!

A Glasgow Pre-Wedding Shoot 3

A Glasgow Pre-Wedding Shoot

Sara and Niamh are from Canada, and both are in their final year of medical training in Ireland. Although they had booked me a while ago for their wedding in Ireland this year, we never had a chance to have a chat. So naturally I was keen to meet up when they told me they would come to Glasgow for the weekend. I always enjoy planning a pre-wedding shoot, as it gives both the couple and me a chance to get to know each other a bit better. But it also means that the couple is more used to the camera before the wedding.

Pre-Wedding Shoot in Glasgow

Neither Niamh nor Sara had been to Glasgow before. So I suggested to give them a small tour of the city and take a few pictures in the process. We met on Buchanan Street from where we took a walk through the Merchant City, to Royal Exchange Square with its fairy lights, and the Museum of Modern Art.

Because it was getting dark so early, we agreed to meet again the following day in the West End. After a nice brunch at Eusebi's I took them to Glasgow University with its beautiful cloisters and gothic architecture. Niamh commented on how the buildings reminded her of a Harry Potter film! After the university we couldn't really miss the beautiful Kelvingrove Art Gallery. I think both Niamh's and Sara's favourite there was the Floating Heads installation by Sophie Cave. This doesn't really surprise me, as the floating heads still make me smile every time I visit the museum!

Lena and Patrick - A Couple Shoot in the Trossachs

Lena's and Patrick's Couple Shoot in the Trossachs

My very talented fellow photographer Lena contacted me a few months ago and asked me whether I could do a couple shoot of her and her partner Patrick. Lena and Patrick had met at night school, and they just wanted to celebrate their relationship by going somewhere nice and taking some photos. So the three of us took a drive up to an area near the picturesque village of Aberfoyle right in the heart of Loch Lomand & The Trossachs National Park.

The day didn't start too well as it was raining when we left Glasgow, and I was also a bit apprehensive about directing somebody who is usually behind the camera and whose work I regard very highly. But once we got to the outskirts of Aberfoyle, it had stopped raining, and we just had a blast. It was as if Lena and Patrick were completely oblivious to the camera being there. And I think the pictures really speak for themselves!

Sahir's Proposal to Karen 4

Sahir's Proposal to Karen

Sahir's Proposal to Karen

I can't believe that it is already almost a year ago, that I was contacted by Sahir, asking me whether I could be there and take some photos as he would propose to his girlfriend Karen to marry her. Needless to say I was a little bit nervous about the whole idea, not only because I hadn't shot an actual proposal before, but also because both Karen and Sahir had not been to Edinburgh before, and therefore Sahir was looking at me to help him find the ideal spot where he could pop the question!

Sahir had suggested to Karen to celebrate New Year's Eve in Edinburgh, so I met them both on Princes Street and we took a walk up to Calton Hill, with it's fabulous views across Edinburgh. It was at the top of the hill, that Sahir dropped down on one knee and proposed to Karen! And as you can see from the images, she was delighted and she did say yes!
